Spouse CR-1 Visa

Spouse Visa

The Spouse CR-1 Visa, also known as the Conditional Resident Spouse Visa, is a type of immigrant visa that allows a foreign national to come to the United States to live with their U.S. citizen spouse. It is a two-year, conditional visa that is granted to foreign nationals who are married to U.S. citizens but have been married for less than two years.

To be eligible for a Spouse CR-1 Visa, you must be married to a U.S. citizen and your marriage must be legally recognized in the United States. You must also be able to demonstrate that you have a bona fide intention to live with your spouse in the United States and that you have a genuine marital relationship.

To apply for a Spouse CR-1 Visa, you will need to complete Form DS-260, the Online Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application, and Form I-130, the Petition for Alien Relative. You will also need to pay the visa application fee and schedule an interview at the U.S. embassy or consulate where you will be applying. During the interview, you will be required to present your documents and answer questions about your relationship and plans for the future.

If your Spouse CR-1 Visa is granted, you will be allowed to enter the United States as a conditional resident and will be issued a two-year green card. After two years, you will need to apply to have the conditions removed from your green card in order to become a permanent resident.
